South Africans are always looking for a good recipe, for ‘the braai’. A side dish or just something that goes perfectly with a braai. Well, this is a winner. Cheesy Weekend Potatoes is perfect as a side dish for any braai/barbeque, or even just on its own. Go on ; Try it.
Did you know? The Canadian Potato & Antique Farm Machinery Museum is located in Prince Edward Island – It is a very interesting weekend activity for the whole family. You can read more about it:
Let’s face it: Anything with cheese just tastes better. You can add your own favorite spices or herbs. I also love to make this recipe with paprika. Lots and lots of paprika. (Then I leave out the garlic.)
You can also add some freshly copped chives. Cheese and Chives after all is an excellent combination.
But there is a secret…
The secret to success: Using the best cheese you can afford. Don’t skimp on the cheese. The more the better and the best-matured cheese will give the best flavor. However, it is again up to you. If you only have plain cheddar in the fridge, use cheddar.
Or you can give it a bit of Italian flavor, by adding my favorite: Parmigiano–Reggiano.
See how easily you can make this recipe your own?
Cheesy Weekend potatoes, can also just as easily turn into a weeknight dinner idea: just serve it with a roast. Or maybe just add a salad and you’ll have a vegetarian option.
