Cupcakes were first referred to as “1234 Cakes” or “number cakes” in the 1700s. This was due to the fact that recipes at the time only called for one cup of butter, two cups of sugar, three cups of flour, four eggs, one cup of milk, and one tablespoon of baking soda.
The consensus is that cupcakes are an American invention. There is still debate over whether the first cupcake recipe appeared in 1776 or 1796.
What is certain is that D.R. “Doc” Rice is the gentleman to thank for the 1947 redesign of cupcakes that resulted in the modern cupcake. And boy, did it pick up speed!
In 2005, Sprinkles Cupcakes built the first bakery in the world dedicated solely to baking cupcakes. They can be found in Texas, Florida, Arizona, California, Chicago, Washington, DC, Illinois, Nevada, and New York City.
“Pupcakes” (lol, how adorable!) is a line of dog-themed cupcakes by Sprinkles Cupcakes! Rover will therefore no longer give you “the look” as you indulge in one of their delectable cupcakes. Additionally, the benefit is that you may order online and have it delivered to all the aforementioned locations.
For instance, New York City’s Magnolia Bakery received a ton of press in the 2000s when Sex and the City on HBO featured its cupcakes.
Cupcake Wars, a program on The Food Network that focuses solely on cupcakes, has an audience of over 1.6 million people.

The classic cupcakes recipe is the good old traditional cupcakes recipe you most likely grew up with, or at least I did.
