An easy recipe for the most delicious "caramel sauce"

According to Wikipedia, Dulce de leche is Spanish for “sweet [made] of milk”.

This is basically a “caramel sauce” which is made with milk, and it is delicious.  Not so sweet as the one made with condensed milk, but still perfectly flavored.  I really do prefer this recipe.

The most basic ingredients are used to make this at home: 

Sugar & Milk.

You can really try this recipe at home.  It is easier than making fudge, and it is a handy item to have in your cupboard over a weekend.

5 Easy steps to making the best ever Dulce de Leche

 Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (50g) White Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. (42g) Butter at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) Whole/Full cream Milk, hot
  • 397g (1 tin) Sweetened Condensed Milk

 

How to make Dulce de Leche:

  • In a large saucepan, gently heat the sugar until completely melted.  Add the butter and let it melt.
  • Now add the milk little by little while continuously stirring.
  • Then add the Condensed Milk and bring to a boil while stirring constantly. 
  • Boil and stir for about 3 to 4 minutes until thickened.
  • Let it cool at room temperature and store in airtight container for up to 5 or 7 days.
