I love simplicity, but I also love receiving compliments when it comes to producing something from the kitchen. So, this easy chocolate cake recipe is a divine combination of both!
Before I continue, please accept my apologies for the photo! I was all set to decorate and style the cake beautifully for the photoshoot, but oh my word, this cake had not even cooled off properly, before the first slice was cut. And before you know it, my photo opportunity was gone!!
PREP TIME: 15 mins
BAKING TIME: 45 mins
First things, first. PREHEAT your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
So, let’s chat through the recipe. The prep time will take you around 15 minutes.
Step 1: Mix…
Step 2: Once done, mix the 4 egg whites in the mixer until firm, and keep it on one side for later use.
Step 3: To get the chocolate flavor mix 75ml cacao with ½ cup boiling water, until smooth. Allow it to cool down a bit. (I gave it about 5 minutes to cool down.)
Step 4: Add 1 cup cake flour and 2 teaspoons baking powder to the oil mixture.
Step 5: Add the cacao mixture and fold the egg whites into the almost ready-to-bake mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes at 180°C.

This cake is delicious as is. And what’s more, I’ve served it as is whilst getting great reviews. However, if you want to add a quick splash so it looks a bit posher, I have an idea or two you may want to do… And it’s just as easy as baking the cake.
