Starting with the walk up to the city wall, you’ll already have beautiful photo opportunities, as the silhouette of the city forms a beautiful picture with the ocean surrounds.
Taking a tour of the Ramparts, along the 2 km walkway that overlooks the city, you’ll have many interesting sights.

Fort National is a stronghold that sits on the tiny Rock Islet, 300 meters north off Saint-Malo Old Town. It is only open to the public and visitors from June to September.
If you’re staying overnight, Saint-Malo Old Town is packed with cool bars at which you can enjoy a night cap.

This walled city has become a popular holiday destination. Tourists love walking amongst the many historic buildings, while enjoying the beautiful sea vistas. You’ll find most of the tourists busy doing the parapet walk, from where you’ll have really beautiful and interesting views!
June–September is the warmest time of the year, and this is also peak season. Which means higher hotel rates and more crowds. Opting for May or October, is maybe a good choice. You’ll still have nice weather, but with a little less of the crowds. However if you love the touristy summer vacation vibe, just make sure you book well in advance.
May month is also the time when Saint-Malo’s international book and film festival are held.

During WWII the city was practically destroyed and most of Saint-Malo Old Town had to be rebuild. But now you’ll find typical French type shops within the walls of the city. Cobble stone streets leading to beautiful little open air squares, like Chateaubriand Square, where you’ll find restaurants and cafes, to stop for a drink or something to eat.
Saint-Malo has direct high-speed train links to Paris and the journey takes around 2 hours 15 minutes.
The closest airports are Dinard (DNR), Rennes (RNS), and Nantes (NTE), from where you can catch a train to Saint Malo, or you can rent a car.
Saint-Malo’s walled city, is mostly pedestrianized, and is easily walkable.
