Preserving food for future use is not only something fabulous for your pantry or kitchen cupboard, it is fun too.  Furthermore, it is not difficult at all.

Anyone can do it.

The perception that canning is expensive is just that:  Only a perception.  The contrary holds more truth.

If you start off with water bath canning, your biggest investment is getting the jars, and they last for a very long time.

There are many ways to preserve food:

  • Canning
  • Pickling
  • Drying
  • Smoking
  • Curing
  • Freezing, and many more

We are not going to tell you about the science behind it all or the technical issues and stats and, and, and…  We will only share what we know to be tried and tested recipes, that are easy enough to follow so any home cook can try them.  We don’t want to leave you feeling disheartened, so we’ll share recipes that we ourselves had tried.  Recipes sourced from all over the world on the many trips we enjoyed.  We hope you’ll enjoy it too.

PS:  You can share your own recipes with us on Facebook or post us a picture of something you’ve tried to make at home.  We love to get some feedback.  (Our FB page is still quite new, so you are also welcome to invite more friends.)  OK, let’s get to it:  Preserving Food – the easy way.
