Zambia was named after the fourth-biggest river in Africa. The Zambezi is the fourth-longest river in Africa after the Nile, Congo, and Niger Rivers.

Zambia is known for producing beautiful arts and crafts, many of which you’ll find across South Africa

Weather now!

"The best time to visit Zambia is during the dry season between June and November. The skies are cobalt blue, the days are hot, and the nights are cool. Temperatures can sit anywhere from 23°C to 36°C across the country. Wildlife-spotting opportunities are plentiful during this time too."

For hot and dry climate conditions, be there from mid-August to mid-November.

The wet rainy season is usually from around mid-November to April.

Why Zambia is such a popular holiday destination!

Zambia is Africa’s hidden gem.

Not only is it famous for pioneering the walking safari, but here you get to experience a raw slice of Africa. The Zambian people are super-friendly and proud of their variety of safari and game activities. They will go out of their way to ensure you have a good time.

Food & Drink

Starch and comfort foods such as stews, soups, and beans are the general norm.

The most popular traditional Zambian dishes are:

  • Bushmeat (Game Meat)
  • Chikanda (Arican Polony).  Unlike what the name implies, it is a meatless dish, purely vegetables. Chikanda is a type of orchid known as a wild edible orchid.
  • Dry Fish.
  • Ifinkubala (Mopane Worms/ Caterpillars).
  • Ifisashi is a traditional vegetarian dish from Zambia that is prepared with spinach and peanuts.
  • Kapenta (Dry Sardines)
  • Mutete is a Zambian dish of kasawa leaves, brewed with lemon juice, a dash of vinegar, some salt, and pepper.
  • Nshima is a very thick porridge made from finely ground cornmeal, called mealie meal.
  • Samp is very much the same basis as Nshima except that the maize isn’t finely ground. Once it has been ground into smaller pieces and the coating around the maize is off, you have your Samp. Samp appears on breakfast, lunch, or even dinner menus.
